The contest is over. the winners have already been announced. And most contingents have already left Metro Manila. Aliwan Fiesta 2013 may be over but it is still the talk of the town. Social media sites are abuzz with discussion on Dinagyang’s 4th Straight win on the Street Dancing competition and Cebu’s 5th straight reyna ng aliwan Win.

It’s a fact. Aliwan fiesta is getting bigger and better each year. This year we saw 17 festivals compete for the 1Million Peso Grand Prize at the Aliwan Fiesta 2013 edition.

Currently the contingents are still performing at the aliw Theater. After this a short entertainment program for the dancers and the contingents will be held. After which is the Final Question and Answer for the Reyna ng aliwan.
Once these are done, the winners will then be proclaimed.

Every year, thousands of Filipinos as well as some foreign tourists flock to Quirino Grandstand as well as along the stretch of Roxas Boulevard to witness the annual Aliwan Fiesta.
Aliwan Fiesta is an annual three-day cultural extravaganza held every summer organized by the Manila Broadcasting Company. During the event, the country’s biggest and the most colorful festivals converge in Metro Manila to complete for the streetdancing competition where 1 Million Pesos Grand Prize is at stake.

Summer is always one of the seasons kids always look forward to as classes have already ended. This means, no need to get up early, do home works, school projects and other stuff.
And to make the summer even more fun and productive, the Mind Museum has created several programs and activities can enjoy and learn a thing or two about science. Neat!

A few weeks back I got an invitation to stay at MNL Boutique Hostel, one of the newer, and shall I say, cooler places to stay when in Metro Manila.
the hostel’s name is quite explanatory. It’s the airport code of Manila., the gateway to the country’s numerous holiday spots and white sand paradise.

Recently I was in Shangri-la Mall to sample the Lunch offerings of Figaro Coffee. Figaro is I guess one of the top Filipino Coffee brands that Champions the advocacy of promoting the local coffee industry.
So every time you order a cup of coffee from Figaro, in one way or the other you also help the local coffee industry.

It was wild, crazy and everything in red! It was Chinese New Year, and I was so lucky to have been invited by Ramada Manila Central to celebrate the festivities in their posh hotel.
coming from Santa Rosa Laguna, I traveled all the way to Manila then took a cab to Binondo to join the celebration. The traffic jam is terrible. So I am resigned to the fact that my only option get to Binondo from the LRT Carriedo Station is to walk.

Happy chinese New year dear readers! Kiong Hee Huat Tsai! I am currently in Binond, known to be the oldest Chinatown in the world, where the biggest Chinese New Year celebration in the Philippines is being held!
My trip here is made courtesy of Ramada Central Manila, the First and only 5-star Hotel right in the Heart of Manila Chinatown!
In the meantime, I’m leaving you with this postcard, featuring the Prosperity salad. a mix of raw fish, with fine strips if veggies and dressings. The ingredients are then tossed before eating.
Prosperity Salad is a popular fare among the Chinse during the Lunar New year!
