Got the new iPhone 5S? Great! Experiencing battery problems? I hope not. Apple has just confirmed that they have discovered a manufacturing defect that is affecting some of their new iPhones.
Apple spokeswoman, Teresa Brewer, has confirmed to New York Times that they found a “manufacturing issue” that is affecting a “limited number” of iPhone 5S units.
“We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” said Brewer. She also added that they are “reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”
The NY Times pointed out that a manufacturing issue is different from a defective battery.
Apple did not disclose how many of these iPhones were affected. As of last month, the Cupertino-based company sold nine million new iPhones in their first weekend of sale.
In other news, Globe and Smart are set to release the iPhone 5S on November 15. Let’s hope that none of their iPhones are carrying the said issue.
