Highly-regarded American photojournalist and National Geographic photographer, Jim Richardson, has recently set out to the Scottish Highlands to take picture of its beautiful scenery using only the iPhone 5S. Check out what he came up with and what he thinks about the handset’s 8MP camera after the break.
In today’s standard, an 8-megapixel rear camera on a smartphone may appear sub-standard, especially when pitted against the likes of the Lumia 1020. But one can make the argument that there’s more to a camera than pixel count and Jim Richardson came to prove that through his snaps like the one above.

“What surprised me most was that the pictures did not look like compromises. They didn’t look like I was having to settle for second best because it was a mobile phone. They just looked good.”
As world-renowned photographer Chase Jarvis once said, the “best camera is the one that you have with you”. That said, don’t let the lack of high-end camera limit you from taking good pictures and I bet that, with proper technique and a keen eye for details, you too can pull off beautiful snaps using your mobile phone.
