Apple launches hard drive replacement program

Cupertino-based company Apple kicks off a replacement program for customers who have purchased 27-inch iMacs with faulty 3TB hard drives bought from 2012.

The said program was initiated after discovering that some 3TB hard drives on the aforementioned iMacs “may fail under some conditions”.

Apple was reported to be contacting customers who provided working email addresses to report of the said replacement program. Although if you bought your iMac between December of 2012 and September 2013, you yourself may get the computer’s serial number and check it on Apple’s support website to know if your unit is affected. Otherwise, you may also contact Apple Technical Support to begin the replacement process.

Those who already had their faulty hard drives serviced can get refunds from the company.

The program extends to all affected iMac units until December 19 of this year or three years from the original date of sale, as the source points out.

iMac Retina

Apple is calling the new display on the 27-inch iMac a Retina 5K Display, mainly because the resolution is at 5210 x 2880 pixels, and crazily, it is at 5mm thin on the edges.
