Huawei Tron; $150 Tegra-powered Android console

With so many devices being unveiled almost simultaneously at CES, it’s easy to lose track on some of the new gadgets at the convention. And one of the things we almost missed out on is this inexpensive gaming console from Huawei called Tron.

Huawei Tron

At first glance, the Tron looks like a miniaturized version of the Mac Pro with its cylindrical body and plain paintjob.

The device runs on a Tegra 4 processor with 2GB and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. It can output 1080p through its full-sized HDMI port and supports 4K contents right off the bat.

Huawei Tron specs:
NVidia Tegra 4 T114 processor
2GB RAM
Expandable 16GB/32GB internal storage
Up To 64GB
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
Bluetooth 3.0
1x RJ-45 port, 1x USB 3.0 port, 1x Audio jack
1x HDMI port with 4K support
Android 4.2.3
Colors: Black and White

Huawei’s new gaming console comes with pretty sleek wireless controller which has a pair of thumbsticks, a quartet of shoulder triggers, a 4-way D-Pad and TouchPad for navigating your way through its custom ROM.

The Tron is slated to go on sale starting in China starting this April and will retail for USD150. It’s a bit more expensive compared to the Ouya console, but we think that the $20 difference is well worth it considering that the Tron has a better feature set.
