HTC announced Desire 601 and Desire 300

Along with the announcement of the new color variant of the HTC One and One Mini (Vivid Blue), HTC also revealed the new addition to the budget offerings – the Desire 601 and Desire 300.

More than just a single-SIM version of the Desire 600, HTC has added a few other enhancements to the Desire 601 to give it a slight edge over the other mid-range handset in the market. This includes a 1.4GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, expandable 8GB storage and a 28mm f/2 main camera which is backed by the Taiwanese firm’s home-brewed imaging chip found on the HTC One.

On the software end, the Desire 601 runs on Android 4.2.2 and is also equipped with also equipped with some of the goodies of its high-end counterpart like HTC Zoe and Video Highlights which will make use of the handset’s 4.5-inch qHD display.

The Desire 300, on the other hand, packs a slightly more modest configuration than the 601 which includes 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and a 1650mAh Li-Ion battery. Just like the 601, the Desire 300 also runs on Android Jelly bean with BlinkFeed preinstalled. Sadly, that takes a huge portion of the handset’s measly 4GB internal storage, leaving only 1.2GB for the user. Luckily it can be expanded through micro-SD card, but it’s still a bit disappointing nevertheless.
