Pampering time at Mani/Pedi Nail Spa

As a woman, am not the type who has her beauty sessions done every week. This is especially true with my nails, as am quite happy with how they are, largely untouched. Mostly, I hate the idea of artificial “enhancers” destroying my natural assets and I figured that the less I use them, the better for me.

True enough, I found out that there are harmful chemicals lurking in things as common as nail polish. So unless your fave brand has declared that they are free of these Bad 3 ingredients, beware! These are: formaldehyde (which is used in embalming of bodies/preservation), Dibutyl Phthalate or DBP which is put to prevent chipping of nails and Tolouene, used to make the application smooth. These substances are banned in Europe, either because they have been linked to cancer, and can cause problems with the reproductive or nervous systems.

It was just good that I found a salon in our city (Paranaque) that offers organic, vegan and cruelty-free products. The name: Mani/Pedi Nail Spa. The address: 2nd Floor J32S Bldg. 35 President’s Avenue, BF Homes Paranaque (for locals, it’s the building across Shawarma Snack Center)

The place is simple and cozy, making good use of every precious square meter. I have to give them props for using only high-quality natural products.

Mani/Pedi Nail Spa

Nail polish selection on the wall. The spa uses only Orly, OPI and DazzleDry, an innovative vegan product which dries nails in 5 minutes ( or even less).

Nail polish selection

Cleanliness all around. This spa doesn’t reuse tools that have already been worked on other customers. For a minimal purchase, customers can have their own hygiene kit which is labelled and they can request for it the next time they visit.

Personal stuff for nails

I love the color swatches they have for nails so you can see the actual appearance when applied. That’s me displaying my newly made up nails. We used DazzleDry in navy blue. A quick dry polish that also endures is perfect for me. Am often disappointed that my manicured nails chip even with a little movement (like getting coins out of my purse). This one actually lasted for close to a week..and the one on my feet even longer!

As part of the nail spa experience, they use these fizz balls (Cuccio brand) which are loaded with botanicals to soften the skin and cuticles. There’s an exfoliation massage and in the case of the pedicure, my feet was wrapped in this insulated “warmer” like i was getting a hot oil :)
