2nd-gen Google Nexus 7 2013 sells for $229

The 2nd-generation Google Nexus 7 is now up for pre-order on Best Buy, pre-empting the official announcement later tonight. Packing a 7-inch full HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon CPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.3 Jellybean, the Nexus 7 v2 starts at $229.

The new Nexus tablet now features a 5 megapixel rear camera paired with a 1.3MP front-facing camera. Google changed the rubbery texture on the back with the kind of plastic that is similar to the one on the Nexus 10.

The device is also much thinner at just 8.65mm.

The new Google Nexus 7 will be sold for $229 for the 16GB variant, $269 for the 32GB and $349 for the 32GB LTE model; that’s $30 more than the previous model at release. Expect this Google tablet to be priced a little higher once it arrives in local stores (perhaps Php13,995 for the 16GB and Php16,995 for the 32GB).

Pre-orders are now up on Best Buy here, while it will also be made available for pre-order on other sites. The Nexus 7 v2 will be launching on July 30.
