Google Cardboard, turns your Android smartphone into a VR device

Among the new things that Google has introduced during its I/O Tech Talk earlier is the Cardboard – a do-it-yourself Virtual Reality viewer made of everyday items that can be found in your home or local hardware store.

To put it simply, the Google Cardboard is a DIY kit that uses your Android smartphone to turn it into a Virtual Reality device. It is also cheap as the materials can be found in your garage or can be bought at your local hardware store – cardboard, lenses, magnets, velcro, and rubber band. You can also add an NFC tag if you like.

To use the Cardboard, just run the Cardboard app on your Android smartphone, secure it inside the viewer and you’re good to go.

Mind you that Cardboard viewer isn’t for sale and is made to encourage developers to create VR applications using Google’s open software VR Toolkit. But if you want to make one for yourself just click the source link below for insructions.
