Statement tees have helped many solve a fashion crisis, especially the one that makes us believe we have nothing to wear. They can add that much-needed pizzazz to an otherwise blah t-shirt and jeans ensemble, maybe even more than piling on the accessories.
But what’s more amazing than a put-together look is that art can help bridge the gap and bring people closer – most especially when it’s wearable art. Giordano Philippines, in an effort to continue its advocacy of inspiring people to create a world without strangers, relaunches the Giordano Statement Tee Design Contest, which runs from October 3 to December 31, 2014.
With the theme “World Without Strangers”, which is also Giordano’s brand ethos, the Statement Tee Design Contest is open to all Filipino aged 13 and up. The submitted designs must be adapted to men’s and women’s style.
“We launched the first Giordano Statement Tee Design Contest in 2009 and we were amazed at the diverse expressions of art. There’s definitely so much talent in the Philippines and we want to give aspiring artists and designers an avenue for them to create, not only art but also a world without strangers,” said Bea Lim – VP for Marketing of Giordano.
Some points to remember about the competition are the following: Submitted designs should be a statement tee but each designer is given free rein with the design; body color of the shirt may vary but the design itself should be limited to a maximum of five colors; and, finally, the submitted design must be in Adobe Illustrator Format.
Giordano designers will judge the entries based on originality (50 percent), creativity and execution (25 percent), and relevance to theme (25 percent). Only 10 winners will be chosen – five winning designs for make and five for female – which will be announced on January 30, 2015. Each winner will get to take home PhP 15,000 plus PhP 10,000 worth of Giordano gift certificates.
“We are excited to review the submitted designs and see how others think we can bring about a world without strangers. We wish all participants good luck and we hope to see your designs on the next Giordano tee collection,” Lim said.
