Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+ launching with Snapdragon 805

Samsung is launching an updated version of its current Galaxy flagship. This Galaxy S5 will pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and will be called Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+.

To be launched in Singapore, the Galaxy S5 4G+ will be the first device to use the 4G LTE-Advanced service of Singtel which has a maximum speed of 300Mbps.

The new GS5 variant boasts a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU, a 5.1″ Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and LTE Cat6. Perhaps this Galaxy S5 4G+ will be the global version of the LTE-A variants unlike its exclusive Korean LTE-A counterpart which has a QHD display paired with 3GB of RAM

Despite these changes, it is still a Galaxy S5 with the same fingerprint sensor, waterproof chassis, heart rate sensor and more. It will be available through SingTel’s plan from SG$0 to SG$688. We can also expect a Galaxy Alpha 4G+ by September.

Galaxy S5 tested in water and sand, no WFT present

During the local launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5, they demonstrated its water- and dust-proof capabilities. See how this new flagship smartphone can be your companion on your next beach trip.

Watch the video below to see it in action!

As seen on the video, people have been trying to operate the phone while submerged in water but aren’t successful since the Galaxy S5 doesn’t support wet finger tracking. Still, the phone could handle being buried in sand and washed off with water alternately — making it fit to go with you on your adventures this summer.

Smart, on the other hand, kept things simple and straightforward. Here are their current offerings for the Galaxy S5:

We’ve also compared Globe’s Plan 999 against Smart’s Plan 999 to get better comparison between the two telco giants.

Verdict

As you can see, Globe offers a lot more options for people interested to secure the Galaxy S5. Globe is also a bit more affordable than Smart when comparing plans of the same price.

When it comes to the term ‘unlimited data,’ we know that there’s the Fair Use Policy that Globe and Smart are both implementing — with Globe placing you on 2G connection once your limit is reached, and Smart still on the get-away-with-it-if-you-can FUP system.

The Galaxy S5 will be available from both telcos starting April 11, 2014.

So which would you choose?
