Sony’s Xperia Z3 is more of an improvement to the Z2 rather than an entirely new and better handset. It’s got a faster processor, better camera (wider angle), and an overall lighter form factor. Although that may be the case, the Xperia lineup has always been an impressive device to begin with – you have NFC connectivity, a very capable 20.7-megapixel camera with proprietary lens technology, and most importantly a body able to withstand water and dust for the active individuals (or clumsy).

We still think a significant number of consumers looking for a hardy phablet will consider buying the Xperia Z3 if they plan to upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4, however, introduces something new to the table. It now touts a Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 compared to its predecessor with 1920 x 1080 pixels. As of now, the Note 4 is the only device that can be used with the company’s Gear VR which functions somewhat like an Oculus Rift but with Samsung’s phablet. There’s also the fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor for the health-conscious.

In addition, its multi-window feature speeds tasks while its proprietary S Pen also promises better performance — perfect for multi-taskers that are always on-the-go.
