Ferrari teases upcoming 458 Speciale

This year’s Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, or more commonly known as the biannual Frankfurt Motor Show, will set the stage for the newest addition to Ferrari’s mid-engine V6/V8 lineup, the Ferrari 458 Speciale. In line with that, the iconic Italian car manufacturer has provided a handful of press photos and a short teaser video to keep us salivating until the grand reveal happening next month.

On the outside, the Speciale is as equally stunning, if not more gorgeous, than the two 458s (Italia and Spider) before it. To keep things more interesting though, Pininfarina (the designer of the car) has tweaked the Speciale’s body to make it more aerodynamic and also added movable wings on both the front and back of the car to reduce drag. To ensure a smooth and steady ride, Ferrari equipped the Speciale with a new Side Slip Control system which manages the torque distribution on its wheels.

Underneath its elegantly sculpted body, is a monstrous 597 horsepower engine which Ferrari claims to be the most powerful non-turbocharged V8 engine to date. From a dormant state, the naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine is capable of reaching 100Km/H in just under three (3) seconds and 200kph in 9.1 seconds.

There’s no doubt that the Ferrari 458 Speciale is going to be one highlights of this year’ Frankfurt Motor Show, but do note though that other car makers aren’t gonna let this bad boy steal the show without a fight. As such, it will be interesting to see how this sports car stacks against the other mean machines in the prestigious car show.
