Headlining the updated internals is its support for 4K Ultra HD content, 4K Ultra HD Bluray, and HDR technologies for gaming and video playback. A USB port has also been moved up front for easier access while a new IR blaster is now built into the device. In addition, the new console no longer features a Kinect port and now demands a separate USB adaptor for it.

In terms of form factor, we see a refreshed design for the streamlined controller. It now has textured grips and a Bluetooth functionality for better wireless range controlling either the Xbox or a normal Windows PC.

Additionally, there will be a limited edition model having a 2TB hard drive for $399 and will be available in August. After which, there will be a 500GB variant for $299 and a 1TB version for $349.

Microsoft announces backward compatibility for the Xbox One

During the E3 event, Microsoft announces that its Xbox One gaming console will be able to play old Xbox 360 games. The thing is, not all games will be recognized — at least for its initial launch.

Business Insider reports that the old Xbox 360 discs will be read by the new Xbox One. In addition, Microsoft will be releasing digital copies of old titles that gamers can opt to download. If that may seem too good to be true, that’s because it is. The company added that only 100 titles from the previous console will be available to be played during the rollout of the feature. If there will be more games after that, is still unclear.

One notable thing they mentioned was that among those, Mass Effect will be included so it’s not at all bad.

In contrast, Sony has PlayStation Now service which doesn’t also recognize all previous game, but it’s a bit pricey too since you have to pay every month regardless if you have or haven’t played the game already. So in a way, Microsoft’s backward compatibility gives the Xbox One more edge than PS4 in this sense.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer mentions, “We won’t charge you for the games you already own.”

Next Microsoft Xbox to be unveiled at May 21

It’s official. On May 21, Microsoft will unveil the new Xbox. It will be a special press event on the Xbox campus, but a live stream will be available on their site.

XBOX

As expected, they’ve also announced that they’ll be taking the stage in the annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) – and probably give gamers and PC enthusiast their money’s worth. To this point, official details about the upcoming Xbox remains under wraps, but you’ll find plenty of speculations making its rounds on the web about the things you can expect from it.

We’re hoping that this “#XboxReveal” will turn out as the phrase implies, unlike what Sony has done with PlayStation 4 which was nothing but a tease rather than an actual unveiling. So what’s it going to be folks? Is it going to be PS4 or the new XBOX? Hit the comments field and let us know.
