Dell 2-in-1 Ultrabook/tablet 13 7000 series hands-on

Earlier today Dell officially announces the new 2-in-1 13 7000 series hybrid laptop with a detachable display that turns into your very own tablet. This is the highlight of the company’s event and we got a brief time with the device so here’s our hands-on and first impressions.

DELL-Latitude-7000-2

The 2-in-1 hybrid 7000 is targeted towards theprofessionals who need to accomplish tasks on-the-go. The device’s flexibility to be an Ultrabook makes it easy to bring your work with you without much of the weight of a normal laptop, while disengaging it from its keyboard dock leaves you with a 13-inch tablet ideal for quick presentations.

The base that doubles as the keyboard is simply plastic-built that makes it light. The keys are back-lit which is always good news since there are users that prefer working with dimmed lights and it’s sometimes hard to see the keys when typing. In addition, we have the connection to the tablet up top while we see the average-sized trackpad on the lower panel of the chassis.

The tablet is where the connectivity goes in. It has the necessary ports like USB 3.0, WLAN slots, and mini DisplayPort for mirroring your screen unto a bigger screen. The tablet alone has a good feel but a bit hefty to carry. From the short time we spent with it, we’d say it’s better to dock it on its base when working as it only adds minimal weight but adds significant functionality.

Overall, this 2-in-1 hybrid laptop looks like it can be capable of being one’s assistant with a demanding workflow that involves jumping from one device to another. Its portability coupled with the right set of connectivity makes it worth looking into for young professionals and the like.

Dell Latitude 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 specs:
Detachable 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display @ 1920 x 1080 resolution
Core i5 vPro CPU
