CEB introduces three new International routes

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific Air is set to launch three new international routes from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, all on December 17, 2015.

It will inaugurate direct flights from Manila to Fukuoka, Japan; from Cebu to Taipei, Taiwan; and, from Davao to Singapore in one day, opening up new markets for tourism and business.

“We look forward to seeing the ‘Cebu Pacific effect’ in the new routes we will operate. We’ve seen time and again how connectivity and CEB’s trademark low fares stimulated travel,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

“It has always been our commitment to contribute to the country’s economic and tourism agenda. We will continue to develop our Philippine hubs to offer fast, affordable flights to more travelers across our network,” she said.

On December 17, first to be launched is CEB’s direct Manila-Fukuoka thrice weekly service. The maiden flight departs Manila at 2:15pm and arrives in Fukuoka at 6:55pm. The return flight departs at 8pm and arrives at 10:40pm. Fukuoka is CEB’s 4th destination in Japan after Osaka, Tokyo (Narita) and Nagoya.

The next launch is CEB’s direct Davao-Singapore twice weekly service. The maiden flight departs Davao at 5:35pm and arrives in Singapore at 9:10pm. The return flight departs at 9:55pm and arrives at 1:40am. This is the airline’s first international route from Davao.

The last launch for the day is CEB’s direct Cebu-Taipei thrice weekly service. The maiden flight departs Cebu at 9:45pm and arrives in Taipei at 12:25am. The return flight departs at 1:05am and arrives at 3:45am. This is CEB’s 6th international route from Cebu. It also offers direct flights from Cebu to Hong Kong, Singapore, Incheon, Busan and Tokyo (Narita).

All three new routes will utilize CEB’s brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft fleet. CEB’s network now spans 63 destinations on 97 routes.

To promote its new routes, CEB holds a seat sale from September 10 to 13, 2015, or until seats last. Cebu-Taipei and Manila-Fukuoka seats are up for grabs at P2,688 all-in and P6,688 all-in respectively, for travel from December 17, 2015 to January 31, 2016.

Meanwhile, P1,488 all-in Davao-Singapore seat sale fares are for travel from December 17, 2015 to July 31, 2016.

For May alone, CEB carried 11,018 passengers, 42% more than the next largest airline on the route, according to the latest statistics of Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport, and Regional Economics (BITRE).

CEB began operating four times weekly non-stop flights to Sydney on September 9, 2014, and added a fifth frequency after three months. The airline is the only low-cost carrier operating the route.

From September 2014 to May 2015, BITRE reported a 62% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic between Manila and Sydney. During this nine-month period there were 232,876 passengers on the route. CEB flew 85,264 passengers or 37% of total passenger traffic.

Cargo volume on the Manila – Sydney route also grew by 33% from September 2014 to May 2015, compared to the same period in the previous year.

“The significant passenger and cargo volume growth between Manila and Sydney validates the Cebu Pacific effect. CEB’s low fares continue to drive trade and tourism between our countries. We look forward to offering the most affordable fares to even more destinations in Australia in the coming months,” said Alex Reyes, CEB General Manager for Long Haul Division.

CEB’s flights to Sydney utilize the airline’s brand-new Airbus A330-300 fleet with a configuration of 436 all-economy class seats.

CEB’s 55-strong fleet is comprised of 10 Airbus A319, 31 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330 and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft. It is one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2015 and 2021, CEB will take delivery of 7 more brand-new Airbus A320, 30 Airbus A321neo, and 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
