Devices that makes it easier to take selfies seem to be all the rage nowadays and Casio is riding on that wave by introducing a new camera dubbed as the EXILIM EX-FR10 aka Spilt Camera.

Casio’s new camera comprises of two sections. The top portion is the actual camera that holds the 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 16MP resolution. Meanwhile, the bottom half serves as the camera’s viewfinder with its 2-inch display but with a rather poor 230K-dot resolution.

The Casio EXILIM EX-FR10 is called Split Camera for a reason; the two components can be detached from one another allowing users to take selfies almost seamlessly. To makes thing easier, the bottom section also has a trigger button which, when paired to the camera via Bluetooth, allows users to control the camera wirelessly.

Another thing to note about the EX-FR10 is that both the camera unit and the controller (display) are IPX6/IPX7-certified, meaning it can withstand being splashed on and can survive falls from up to a height of two meters.

On the software side of things, the Split Camera is equipped with Highlight Photo app which automatically generates a collage of photos by specifying the shoot date and layout. In addition, it also comes with a Highlight Movie which is somewhat similar to the previous app, only this time it spits out a short movie using a combination of pictures and videos.
