ALI Inks New Partnership for Circuit Makati

Ayala Land marked another milestone  as it signed a partnership with Power Mac Center, bringing Circuit Makati closer to its vision of becoming the entertainment district of Makati.

The partnership sees the rise of the Power Mac Center Spotlight–a block box theater designed to deliver fresh and innovative performance for yuppies and families alike.

In 2011, Ayala Land embarked on the ‘Make It Happen, Make It Makati’ campaign to strengthen the city’s reputation, not just as a business center, but also as a destination for lifestyle, entertainment, and culture,” begins Mel Ignacio, Ayala Land VP and Head of Makati Project Development. “Since then, we have been fortunate enough to have met partners that share this vision, allowing us to continue bringing this goal to fruition.”

Part of this vision involves Ayala Land investing P60 billion into Circuit Makati to establish its commitment in ensuring Makati’s continued relevance and competitiveness.

“We have established the Makati Central Business District as a business hub, complemented by Ayala Triangle Gardens as an urban oasis, and Ayala Center as a cosmopolitan lifestyle destination. This partnership takes us a step closer towards the fulfillment of Circuit Makati as an entertainment destination suited to the whole family,” Ignacio adds.

The Power Mac Center Spotlight will be located at the third level of Circuit Lane, which is a two-storey interactive retail strip, with a water feature spanning its middle, offering Power Mac Center Spotlight audiences dining and retail options. This 400 square meter performance venue will be home to both performance and non-performance events, such as corporate launches and private events.

“Throughout the years, Power Mac Center has proven to be a lifestyle brand that has a passion for the arts. From its numerous in-store activities involving digital design and music performances, to its creative ventures with meaningful partnerships with various establishments, and a long-standing affiliation with Ayala Museum, Power Mac Center sees potential in bringing new and diverse opportunities that promote, not only the arts, but Filipino talent as well,” says Power Mac Center CEO, Lawrence Sison.

With a vision of being the heart of Makati’s entertainment district, this project combines residential, retail, business, and leisure to create a dynamic and vibrant theatre experience. Launching in conjunction with Circuit Lane, the Power Mac Center Spotlight is set to raise its curtains this year in September, bringing fresh and innovative performances to the city.

Makati brings back The Festival of Lights this Christmas

This year’s Christmas celebration in Makati, the country’s leading city for business, lifestyle, entertainment and culture, brings us back to life’s simple joys.

It is best signified with the premiere of the much-awaited Lights and Sound Show. Ayala Land, together with HSBC, will bring the “The Festival of Lights” every 30 minutes from 6 pm to 10 pm every night until January 4, 2015. For the fifth year in a row, Makati gives back to the community by spreading holiday cheer that only the city that makes bright things happen can offer.

It is one of those spectacular and highly-anticipated occasions when Makati comes to life with flashing lights and vibrant music. Makati denizens and visitors alike take time to witness and appreciate the unique combination of colors and carols.

“We wanted our Lights and Sound Show this year to be something new and different, the way we always anticipate Christmas because it marks the promise of bright things to come,” says Mel Ignacio, Assistant Vice President of Ayala Land.

Voltaire De Jesus, award-wining lights and sound director of the Ayala Symphony of Lights team shares that this year’s Lights and Sound Show is a complete departure from previous editions. This year, the country’s most competitive city outdoes itself by taking inspiration from the Rio De Janeiro Carnivale and its festive vibe and vibrant rainbow colors, translating this into an audio-visual feast using custom-made LED string lights, LED meteor lights, flash pods, laser lights, and moving heads.

To come up with the music that accompanies the Lights and Sound show, Makati collaborated with the acclaimed musicians and composers of Watusi Manila, namely Anna Piramide, Jazz Nicolas and Mikey Amistoso. To offer something unique, the trio switched genres, and even mixed foreign Christmas songs with Filipino carols, making everything seamless because Christmas, at its very root, is a universal celebration.

Indeed, the Ayala Triangle Gardens is transformed into the brightest spot in the metro courtesy of this well-loved holiday tradition where a spectacular play of lights harmoniously dances to beloved Christmas carols. “Putting a Carribean feel to ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ is odd,” explains Piramide of Watusi Manila, “because there is definitely no reindeer or snow on those islands. But it makes a fresh and interesting image.” That is exactly what this year’s Christmas celebration in Makati is all about—upholding traditions and making them relevant by creating something unique out of the familiar.

Already, the Festival of Lights has garnered international attention with even a mention from the Conde Nast Traveler as one of the most spectacular Christmas lights around the world.

The festivities go all the way to December when Makati high school students compete in the 5th Makati Inter-High School Christmas Caroling Competition on December 16 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. Lastly, the celebration carries on with special Thanksgiving Masses from December 15 to 23 also in Ayala Triangle Gardens.
