Apple testing Force Touch, pink color on new iPhone

If a waterproof iPhone 6 doesn’t suit your interests, how about a pink-colored one? A new report from the Wall Street Journal suggests that Apple is currently testing a new pink color option for the new iPhone, along with a Force Touch function for its display screens.

The new color, according to the Wall Street Journal, will be sold along with the Gold, Space Gray, and Silver models when the Cupertino giant debuts its successor to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus this fall. Design changes to the smartphone itself may be minimal since Apple keeps their designs on a two-year scale, and mass production for the product will begin this May.

In addition to the pink iPhone, the Force Touch feature may make its way to smartphones, too. This could bring in a lot of new gesture operations for Apple’s handheld device: A deep click can open a list of options (like the Apple Watch) or simulate another click (like in the 2015 Macbook, where the deep press simulates as a right click, among things).

For those who missed the news earlier this week, Force Touch is Apple’s new touch feature where the system recognizes force applied to the display. It uses tiny electrodes around the flexible Retina display to sense distinctions between a light tap and a deep press, and trigger specific controls. This has been introduces on on all 2015 versions of Macbook devices, including Pro and Air, and the Apple Watch.

Would you like a Force Touch-equipped Apple device? How about a pink-colored iPhone?
