Acer Liquid S1 in the flesh, first impressions

We had a quick hands on with the Acer Liquid S1, the 5.7-inch dual-SIM smartphone by Acer. Being the new flagship smartphone by Acer, the Liquid S1 packs a good set of hardware.

The handset is quite big on the hands and has that shape that is akin to the HTC Butterfly.

The all-glass front-panel is glossy and features three soft buttons at the bottom (the Home button is represented by 2 concentric circles). The top corner has a speaker grill that cuts right on frame of the device. The body feels a bit thin because of the slightly curved back. In contrast to the front, the back panel has a smooth, matte finish.

The configuration of the Liquid S1 isn’t that impressive compared to the current crop of flagship handsets. We think Acer is trying to save on materials cost to make this handset more affordable that others in the same category.

Acer Liquid S1 specs:
5.7-inch HD TFT display @ 1280×720 pixels, 258ppi
Mediatek 1.5GHz quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal storage
32GB via microSD support
3G/HSDPA
dual-SIM, dual-standby
2,400mAh battery
Andorid 4.2 Jellybean

As mentioned in our earlier story, we expect the Liquid S1 to be released by 3rd quarter of this year with a retail price of around Php20k.
