iPhone 6 mock-up compared side-by-side with Galaxy S5

We’ve seen previous rumors regarding the specs and physical aspects of the upcoming flagship from Apple. There’s even a concept art of what it could look like, but the people from Macitynet compared the latest iPhone 6 physical mock-up with a Samsung Galaxy S5. See how the alleged iPhone 6 is similar (or different) from the Galaxy S5 in terms of physique.

The mock-up is just a little smaller than the 5.1-inch Galaxy S5. It’s not surprising since the iPhone 6 shown here is the 4.7-inch variant and not the bigger 5.5-inch model as rumors previously suggested. Comparing the face with Apple’s previous iPhones, it seems to us that the new flagship is just a stretched iPhone 5S with its same placement of front camera, earpiece, and fingerprint scanner in the middle.

On the side, you’ll notice that both devices are now similar-looking with the iPhone’s power/lock button moved to the right from its original position on top. Also, it is a bit thinner than the Galaxy S5. It is currently at 8.1mm thick so we can estimate the new iPhone to be around the 7mm mark.

There’s also a video below with this same dummy model compared against existing iPhones. So if you’ve held these devices in your hand, you’ll get a good idea as to how the upcoming iPhone would sit on your palm.

Based on this comparison of two flagships, would you prefer the upcoming iPhone’s body over the existing Galaxy S5? You can share those thoughts below.

Japanese publication Nikkei says that Apple’s next iPhone might be larger than the current 5S, and that the displays will be made at Sharp’s factory in Japan as well as other places. This mass production of liquid crystal display panels will start as early as April-June, according to reports.

“Manufacturers have apparently begun making such components as fingerprint sensors and chips for liquid-crystal drivers.”

In addition, LG Electronics will also join in and supply panels for Apple and these displays are anticipated to deliver significantly higher resolutions than the current models.

As a refresher, the iPhone 5S carries a 4-inch IPS LCD display at 640 x 1136 resolution with a pixel density of 326ppi. It’s safe to expect that we would see something better from the iPhone this year – in terms of display, at least.

Apple to launch 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones in 2014

Ever since Android smartphones broke the 4-inch and 5-inch screen size barriers, people are asking when Apple will do the same with their iPhone. Seems like it’s finally going to happen as reports say that a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone are slated to launch next year.

Bloomberg reports that Apple will continue the trend of launching two iPhones and will introduce two models next year – one with a 4.7-inch screen and another with a 5.5-inch screen.

Although Apple may look like it’s “catching up” in terms of display sizes, the company will introduce more innovative components in its upcoming iPhones like displays with “glass that curves at the edges” which is expected to be featured in the iPhone 6, and “enhanced sensors that can detect different levels of pressure” for the iPhone 7.

Bloomberg’s source say that upcoming iPhones are still in development but are expected to launch in the 3rd-quarter of 2014.
