Gionee GPad G5 with hexa-core CPU becomes official

Gionee has made official their latest hexa-core Android smartphone, the Gionee GPad G5. This successor to the GPad G4 was launched in India just yesterday for Rs. 14,999.

The GPad G5 sports a yet-unknown hexa-core Cortex A7 processor but we’re betting it could be one of those coming from Mediatek.

How to get your iPhone 5 battery replacement for free

We’ve recently reported on Apple’s Battery Replacement Program for the iPhone 5 first coming to America and China. Now it’s our turn since the program is now in effect here in the Philippines. Here’s the procedure of what you should do and how to find the nearest service provider.

Assuming that you’ve already followed the steps and you know your iPhone 5 is qualified to have its battery replaced for free, just follow these simple steps:

1. Choose your method of service:

Note: If you wish to go to an authorized Apple service provider, just click on the link and input your current location for them to give you a list of service provider locations.

2. Once there, your iPhone 5 will be examined before any service is done just to verify that it is eligible for the program and is in working order.

3. After verification and everything is good to go, it’s now time to prepare your device for the battery replacement. Be sure to:

  • Backup your data to iTunes or iCloud
  • Turn off Find my iPhone
  • And finally, Erase data and settings (Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings)

That’s about it! Apple reminds us, though, that any damage apart from the battery that may affect the process should first be repaired before the procedure for battery replacement begins.

Long BDO ATM lines due to rain leaks

Experiencing very long lines and offline BDO ATMs lately? This is probably due to the incident that happened in one of their data centers after continuous heavy rains in the metro.

The building where many of the BDO servers are housed was flooded due to leaks from the heavy rains in the past few days. This forced the bank to turn of the switch and shut down their servers.

This resulted to slow bank processing and offline terminals.

“We apologize to our valued clients and the general public for the service interruption they may have been experiencing in our Automated Teller Machines, retail and corporate banking, mobile and phone banking, and ATM debit cards and cash cards” – BDO

As the servers are turned back on, BDO services should return to normal.

Nintendo announces 3DS and 3DS LL anew

After almost 3 years, Nintendo has announced a refreshed 3DS portable gaming console. The new models feature a slight re-design and improved hardware.

The Nintendo 3DS will be available in Japan starting October for 16,000 while the Nintendo 3DS LL will sell for 18,800 yen.
