The Tough Rock Powerbank is cased in a hard plastic shell that makes it shockproof. Although it comes with only one USB slot, it provides 2.4V of power for fast charging. We’ve asked if, for some reason the need to do so arises, charging a device is possible while the powerbank is submerged. Unfortunately, the answer is no.

The flap that covers the microSD slot for charging and USB port should be closed in order for the powerbank to be fully waterproof. Retailing at Php3,999, the Tough Rock Powerbank comes with a built-in LED flashlight.

In addition to the sporty powerbank, the company also introduced the AT Boom Box vibration speaker. This device is basically a speaker that uses no Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi to wirelessly play music from your smartphone. How it works is that this wooden induction speaker only uses vibration from the source that should be placed on top of it.

Here is Jason Ching of Airborne Technology briefly explaining the technique behind the Boom Box:

AT Boom Box details:
Charging Time: 3-4 hours
Usage Time: 6-8 hours
Weight: 268 grams
Dimensions: 12 x 4cm
Price: Php1,800

AMD announces three new Kaveri APUs

Following the announcement of the mobile Kaveri APUs back in June, AMD has added three new desktop APUs which have a lower TDP compared to the first wave of Kaveri APUs.

These three new Kaveri APUs fills in the mid-range segment with the A10-7850K still leading the pack with its quad-core CPU that can go up to 4.0GHz at full load. The new A10-7800 has pretty much the same configuration as AMD’s flagship APU, but has a slightly lower speed compared to it and is $18 cheaper.

Joining the A10-7800 are the A8-7600 and A6-7400K which are equipped with 10 and 6 compute cores respectively. The former’s quad-core chipset is paired with the same Radeon R7 GPU (built-in) found on the A10-7850K but has two less GPU cores to boot.

Meanwhile, the A6-7400K makes do with an integrated Radeon R5 GPU and a dual-core CPU that have a slightly faster clock speed compared to the more expensive A8-7600. Furthermore, budget-minded overclockers will appreciate the fact that this $77 APU can be overclocked to run at a higher frequency.

In addition to having configurable TDP, these three new APUs are all equipped all the technologies and performance enhancements that are present on the previous models. This includes AMD’s proprietary Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA), Graphics Core Next (GCN) and Heterogeneous Uniform Memory Access (hUMA) just to name a few.

Along with the announcement that these three new Kaveri APUs are now available in the market, AMD also announced its new A10 Game Bundle Promo that kicks off this month and will last until October. Basically, users who will purchase any of the A10 APUs within the promo period can select one of the three game titles (Thief, Sniper Elite III and Murdered Soul Suspect) that are up for grabs.
