List of Philippine Holidays 2010

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has recently signed the Presidential Proclamation 1841 listing down all the legal and special holidays for 2010.

Year 2010’s legal holidays as listed in the Presidential Proclamation 1841 are as follows:

January 1 – New Year’s Day
April 1 – Maundy Thursday
April 2 – Good Friday
April 9 -Araw ng Kagitingan
May 1 – Labor Day
June 14 – Independence Day (June 14, Monday nearest June 12), August 30 – National Heroes Day (August 30, last Monday of August), November 29 – Bonifacio Day (November 29, Monday nearest November 30)
December 25 – Christmas Day
December 27 – Rizal Day (December 27, Monday nearest December 30).

The Special Holidays are as follows:

February 22 – EDSA Day (Holiday for Schools)
August 23 – Ninoy Aquino Day (August 23, Monday nearest Aug August 23),
November 1 – All Saints Day
December 24 – Christmas Eve
December 31- Last day of the year.

The dates for the Eid’l Fitr and Eidl Adha 2010 has yet to be determined.

Though it is not stated in the Proclamation, it is just assumed that the second Monday of May 2010 will also be declared a holiday since it is the Presidential Elections in the Philippines.

President State of the Nation Address (SONA)

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s pronouncements in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) will dictate the direction of next year’s budget, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Budget Sec. Rolando Andaya Jr said they have yet to finalize the national budget for 2009, noting that the executive department still has a month to submit a budget proposal to Congress.
