ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The hired driver of television reporter Ces Drilon and her crew has claimed to police that a known “military agent” and not members of the Abu Sayyaf extremist group abducted the ABS-CBN team, the Sulu police chief said Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Julasirim Kasim, Sulu police director, said driver Maramma Hasim, the man hired by Drilon and her team to chauffer for them in Maimbung on the day of their disappearance, claimed that one Juamil “Maming” Biyaw was the “missing link” to knowing who was behind the abduction.

Coron, Palawan: The Simple Life part two

I am supposed to write about the 110th year of the Philippine Independence Day today, but the writer’s block has struck me. It’s already past 9PM and I have yet to post an article for today.

Anyway, I greet my fellow Filipinos a happy and fruitful celebration of Independence day today! Waving High, Coron

Anyway, I am still wishing that when I open my windows every morning, I would sea nothing but mountains and the seas and the boats passing by. Darn, I’m already back in Manila but my mind is still fixed on Coron Palawan!

Palawan has so much to offer. One can chose to just bask in its crystal clear beaches, or experience the adrenaline rush by climbing the Mt. Tapyas or climb one of its majestic but equally dangerous limestone cliffs, or just simply appreciate how the locals live a very simple life.

cows in coron

There are no five star hotels in Coron Palawan. There are only a handful top-of-the-line restaurants offering international cuisine. There’s no taxi, just tricycles and jeepneys. Life is so laid back in Coron. There are no high rise buildings and modern developments on the island of Busuanga Palawan, which is good.

Palawan still retains that old rustic nature feel. Cows and carabaos are just free to roam. Wild birds flying free. Fishes sold at the public market is incredibly fresh..

People seem to have so much time in their hand. Not like us here living in the Metro where we always wish to extend the day up to 25 hours. They still have time for rest and recreation. Time for siesta. Time to mingle with townmates.

If only life here in the Metro is this simple…

Manilenya Invades Canada

What if I buy this Ladies tank with my own design from Sonicshock, a site where you can make your own T-shirt and ask people I come across the County Road 89 to wear this and invite them to pose for me? Maybe I’ll make another shirt for guys because I don’t think they will buy the idea of them wearing ladies tank right? But if they cool enough to wear this, I guess we’re going to have a street party then. As if….

This is the big project I’ve been meaning to do in celebration of my three years of blogging which will fall on July 28.

If this will happen, I’ll get to shoot 2 birds in one stone. First my walk will be totally different from my previous walk. It’s going to be amazing.

Second, It will hone my interpersonal skills, but I need to pick my guts first to ask people, especially locals if they can do that for me. Sometimes I think it’s easy, no sweat! but most of the times I feel they will just look right through me and maybe laugh back at me. I fear rejection and humiliation of course, that’s why I am having a second thought.

But who’s going to ignore a shirt or a tank that is made of a state of the art digital printing plus a free post of their picture in my blog lol!

Let’s cheers! I am going to buy my favorite wine on Sunday to celebrate my being a Dad also to my kiddo.
