No World Pyro Olympics for 2008

Update 2: Looks like the schedule for the WPO in Manila, Philippines ahve been changed again. February 16 - China (CN) vs Germany (DE)
February 23 - Japan (JP) vs Australia (AU), March 1 - Korea (KR) vd Dubai (AE), March 8 - Italy (IT) vs Venezuela (VE), March 15 - Frace (FR) vs Philippines (PH).

People have been asking — when is the next World Pyro Olympics (WPO)? Will it be this December 2007 or maybe January of 2008.

World Pyro Olympics

Unfortunately, there will be none this year or next year. La Mancha Productions, the organizing body behind the WPO did not announce anything or any reason why this year’s event will not push thru. There were updates going around though that it was because of the lack of funds and sponsors. Will post an update once this has been finally cleared.

Update 1: There might still be hope. In an interview over at PhilStar.com, it was noted that “The 2008 World Pyro Olympics will be held at the Manila Bay on Feb. 16 (China and Germany), 23 (Japan and Australia), Mar. 1 (Korea and Dubai), 8 (Italy and Venezuela), and 15 (France and the Philippines).”.

2008: The year to come

I PEER into my crystal ball and what do I see? A stronger peso yet to hover 38 to a dollar. Whatever measures taken will not work simply because we are in uncharted territories. The peso has never appreciated historically and at these dramatic levels. The dollar will taper off if the United States pulls [...]

New Year plans

 sparks in the dark

First of all:

I wish everyone a Happy, Prosperous, Peaceful and Safe New Year!!!!

Thoughts for New Year:

Choose to love—rather than hate. ~

Choose to smile—rather than frown. ~

Choose to build—rather than destroy. ~

Choose to persevere—rather than quit. ~

Choose to praise—rather than gossip. ~

Choose to heal—rather than wound. ~

Choose to give—rather than take. ~

Choose to act—rather than delay. ~

Choose to forgive—rather than curse. ~

Choose to pray—rather than despair.

I don’t like listing New Year’s resolutions.  I always forget where I put the list anyway.

It has been customary for people to  equate change and  fresh start with new year – hence the practice of making New Year’s resolutions.  But I believe that resolutions can be made anytime of the year.

I do have plans though, one of  which is to visit my parents more often. They are now old. Tatay is 87, Nanay is 86.  Tatay’s memory  is now fading fast. So is his appetite for food. Last Christmas, he asked: “What day is today?” When we arrived at the family home for our traditional Christmas breakfast – as I gave him a hug – he inquired: “Who are you?” And he skipped Christmas breakfast.

Another important plan is to refurbish and reorganize my house and work place – something I have long wanted to do.  I want to be more organized and efficient not only for the new year but all throughout.  And the best way I know to achieve this is by putting my house and work place in good order. Well, happily, I have actually already started  working on this last week.

What about you? Got any plans, projects or wishes? )

Again, Happy New Year to all !!! Hurry, blow the trumpets! Bring in the fireworks!

Pangasinan airport debate

There is a heated discussion now on where to build an international airport in Pangasinan. Mayor Nani Braganza wants it in Alaminos City and has in fact gotten the approval of President Macapagal-Arroyo. But Mayor Rey Velasco wants it built in Santa Barbara, as an alternative to the Loakan Airport in Baguio and because his town is nearer the key business centers of the province. Gov. Amado Espino Jr. is instead rehabilitating the Lingayen airport. Where do you think should the Pangasinan airport be built? Just asking.
